DOWNLOAD CAP ON AHSAY DOWNLOADS

Postby Jazz9 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 2:44 pm

Can you raise the 60KBps limit on the downloads from the customization login? I cant stand waiting over an hour for 350meg.

I can understand limiting the public downloads ... but for your customers / service providers?

Hi Glen, we didn't limit the download speed in our customization portals.

Can you try using one of the other customization portals below to see if any improvement?
1. http://partners.us.ahsay.com (same as http://partners.ahsay.com)
2. http://partners.uk.ahsay.com

Thanks for your reply.

http://partners.us.ahsay.com = 64KBps
http://partners.uk.ahsay.com = 40KBps

I was using an 8mbps link is the uk one may be faster then that.

I have tryed other internet connections and get about the same speed.

If I download the branding.zip file from the same page (but links to http://www.ahsay.com/cps/5.5.3.0/branding.zip) it downloads at 800KBps

Thanks,

Glen

Hi Glen,

Our investigation showed that it might be caching from ISP's proxy, so it could achieve 800Kbps when downloading the branding zip.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make sense. We should be able to expect something at or above 800 Kbps for most any download. 64Kbps is hardly better than an analog modem.

As Glen stated, the downloads are quite large. 64Kbps is really not acceptable, and I highly doubt that he would have gotten a cached copy of branding.zip from a proxy server -- especially since he states that he has tried these experiments from multiple connections. So what explains the difference in performance?

Are you saying that there are no limits on these downloads other than Ahsay's available bandwidth? If there are limits, then they really should be quite a bit higher for your partners. If there are not limits, then I would say your current available bandwidth is insufficient.

Since we didn't limit the download speed in our customization portals, the cause of difference in performance could be the bandwidth from service provider, we will check with them and see if any turn-up can be made.

for your reference, we have run some speed tests on our servers…

US customization portal
Server: Perth, Western Australia
Download: 0.75 Mb/s
Upload: 0.43 Mb/s

US customization portal
Server: Houston, TX
Download: 37.31 Mb/s
Upload: 8. 48 Mb/s

UK customization portal
Server: Perth, Western Australia
Download: 0.64 Mb/s
Upload: 0.82 Mb/s

UK customization portal
Server: London, UK
Download: 21.31 Mb/s
Upload: 8.07 Mb/s

So, based on those results, how do we esure we are not using the Australia server? Those are quite low, and really aren't appropriate for high-volume downloads.
