UBS allowed to automount a remote NFS at boot?

Postby AverageJoe » Mon Aug 04, 2014 10:58 pm

Hi All,

It seems that on the UBS appliance OS if I add an entry in the fstab the remote NFS mount point is not mounted at boot, is there a reason for this? Am I doing something wrong?

I add this to the FSTAB and I reboot and it is gone...
10.44.1.13:/mnt/VolA/ahsay /mnt/nfsuser nfs rw,noatime,async 0 2

manually I can mount it:
mount -t nfs -o noatime xx.xx.xx.xx:/mnt/VolA/ahsay /mnt/nfsuser

Thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe,

AhsayUBS supports the use of remote storage devices for user homes using iSCSI connections. So instead of using NFS you will have to connect using iSCSI.

Please refer to our Chapter 8.5.3 of our AhsayUBS Administrator's Guide viewtopic.php?f=94&t=9791 for details on how to configure AhsayUBS with iSCSI.

If you want to use NFS have a look at 'autofs' I use it under debian and it works very well to automatically connect NFS shares when the share is accessed, it also reconnects automatically

PG,

Ahsay UBS is FreeBSD 8.3, autofs is something from 10.1

The autofs driver first appeared in FreeBSD 10.1.

Hello

NFS volumes are not officially supported on AhsayUBS therefore any NFS volumes will not auto mount at boot up. Only the officially supported ISCSI volumes will auto mount at boot.
