Enhancement Request: ACB Filters

Postby mgaccess » Sun Jan 17, 2010 7:52 pm

Add an "Exclude" option to the file filter on the ACB client. Currently when you create a file filter on ACB, all you can do is "Include" the file extensions you define, which is pretty useless. Thanks!

The include filter is pretty much for file selection only.... if you need the exclude file, use the OBM instead!

Customers that sign up for the ACB service should not have to upgrade just to exclude certain file extensions. It's all "file only" related.

An "include only" option makes no sense. Thanks

ACB filters

I second this.

Just give a try to the the "include" option in ACB. It's totally weird. The only way to make it work is the following :

* Do NOT select any folder to back up,
* Use an include filter to force back up of selected file types.

Here is an example of what works. Assume I want to backup all .docx and .xlsx of all user profiles of the computer, what I have to do is :

> Don't select ANY folder to back up,
> Add an include filter, on folder C:\Users, with these two extensions.

It works... It will recursively back up all docx and xlsx files of C:\Users, and nothing else...

But it's really counter-intuitive !

I think the whole point is for ACB to be a trimmed down option, if you want it to work completely like OBM then there is no point of the product

In order to for ACB to remain competitive with other offerings from competitors, it would be helpful to have a better feature set and a more modern interface.

It has been almost another year. Any plans to add some functionallity to ACB, like being able to exclude files? Is anything added in 6.9 release for excludes?

It has them already! not sure when it was introduced, but this is from 6.9.2.0

the filters are basic (no regular expressions) and only supports 'files of type'
