Trying to use Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 as NAS

Wed Apr 04, 2012 7:47 pm

I've got a Windows 7 PC running my OBS/RPS.

I want to use the 2008 server as additional storage. However, when I add the drive in the 'User Homes' I get the following error:

"Cannot get QPS Ratio of user home Z:\User"

I have also tried the UNC as the path, but still no joy.

The PC can 'see' the server and connect to it, copy files etc.

I'm assuming this is some sort of permissions issue, but as I've never used the 2008 server before I'm at a bit of a loss.

All help appreciated!

Check that the OBS service is running under a user that can access the shares. I think it normally runs under "LOCAL SYSTEM" so might not have access to network shares.

also you will need to use UNC path, whatever user you run this as will not be aware of your drive mappings.

Thanks for the quick responses - will take a look and tell you how I get on.

So -you need to use the username and password of the user account that you set up using the 'connectcomputer' utility. NOT the logon credentials for the server itself.

HTH someone.
