With the rise in Ransomware attacks, I'm thinking of promoting my off-site backup service as a solution for current and future customers.

Can anyone see what the pitfalls might be in this?

Thanks, Rob

Dear Rob,

It’s a great idea to offer backup service to your customers as a solution to protect them from Ransomware attacks. I can see opportunities.

When Ransomware strikes, as long as your customers have regular backup of their data and systems, they can restore the last uninfected backup version without having to pay an extortion fee to retrieve their data. For example, if a virtual machine got infected with Ransomware, it can still be restarted and run directly from the local backup file through internal network almost instantly. Storing the backup versions in an offsite cloud location also adds another layer of protection. Therefore, the key point is to do backups as often as possible and have multiple backup destinations.

Free feel to share your thoughts and we shall be pleased to support if needed.
