Using S3 without telling customers

Postby dmburgess » Fri Mar 08, 2019 11:26 pm

So I have a backup system that I currently use on AWS. AWS EC2 drive space is expensive, well compared to S3, as S3 is roughly 1/2 the cost.

What I wish to do is to create a home directory in S3. By default without the end user selecting S3, just by them selecting the default storage location. I wish them to use my S3 in my location, or even better yet, allow them to select what storage location they wish to use, i.e. East/West etc. This keeps my cost down, plus allows unlimited storage space. But i don't' want them to know its S3, or know my keys etc.

Is that possible in CBS? if so what are the steps to use.

Yes - you can setup the S3 storage (or other supported cloud storage) for your clients on CBS as predefined destination.

I know you mentioned AWS S3, I would look at Wasabi ($5.99/TB!!!!) and is compatible with S3 APIs. I have no financial benefit to recommending them. It was founded by the ex-founder and CEO of Carbonite. Good luck! ... th-Wasabi-
