Considering Ahsay. Have NAS Question

Postby carnold » Fri Mar 16, 2012 7:59 am

We are looking to provide our customers with offsite backups. My first question is, can we have Ahsay save backups to a RadyNAS? I have been searching
<can't post a link because i dont have 10 posts> but it is a link from the ahsay site for a list of supported NAS's but can not find anything. Running RAIDiator 4.1.8

You cannot install OBS onto the NAS, but you can mount the NAS using SMB or NFS just fine.

If this is one of the old SPARC-based ReadyNAS then forget about it, it's much too slow.

Ahsay tried running some NAS based images. I don't think many providers had much success. You are better off looking at a frontend server running Ahsay and a backend NAS storing your data. We provide several providers, including startups like yourself, with this setup. It works very well and very reliable.

I have a few installs of OBS on Thecus 1U4500's and they work reasonably well but I wouldn't do it again. I'd use AhsayUBS on a custom server box.
