Data Migration from v6.27 to v7.11

I have 2 ahsay server

Server A - on premises VM v6.27 using local storage for backup
Server B - on Cloud VM v7.11 using Google cloud storage for backup

I want to know how can I move old backup from Server A to Server B

Hello,

For your information, it is not possible to migrate user data from OBS v6.27 to CBS v7 if CBS is using cloud storage for backup since the data structure is completely different in v7.

What if we update v6.27 to v7.11 and than try it.

Hello,

If you upgrade your OBS v6.27 to CBS v7.11, it is fine to migrate the old data from v6 to v7 in corresponding user home. If you need to put data on Google Cloud, it is required to upload the data with OBM v7 from scratch.

We are looking to accomplish a similar process as rkadon.

Currently we have a V6.27 physical server with physical on premis storage. (~200 accounts & 25TB of data)
We want to migrate to V7.15 that is an EC2 instance, and have the storage be cloud based also (S3 or Wasabi).

We understand that the data format from V6 --> V7 is different.

We are trying to do this in a way that is least disruptive to end users, many of which we have limited communication with and don't really want to raise any concerns about the migration or changes. It is preferrable to do this slowly, even 1 customer at a time if need be.

Can anyone suggest ideas that would make this transition work the best? Has anyone accomplished this
successfully? Has anyone failed? What worked and what didn't work?
