ACB and CDP volume shadow copy not working?

Hi

we have a customer using the ACB and he's enabled cdp for his pst file.

if he has outlook open the file can't be backed up and this is logged in the cdp backup log

[Error][Updated File] File="C:\Documents and Settings\
Administrator\My Documents\Outlook Files\user@domain.com-
test.pst" Error="[com.ahsay.obc.core.bset.file.A]
[BackupRequestTask.uploadFiles] Unexpected exception for
sFilename=C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\
Outlook Files\user@domain-test.pst sFileType=F,
caused by [java.io.IOException] The process cannot access the
file because another process has locked a portion of the file.

if I just do a normal scheduled backup it works fine.

can cdp not use volume shadow copy to backup open files? I have set this up on my own pc and can confirm scheduled backup used vss and backed up the file with no problems when outlook is open but cdp just errors

ACB version is 6.9.4.0

I'm currently getting the same errors when backing up pst files using CDP? is there any solution for this bug?

I'm currently trialling this software to replace another system.

For this issue (VSS not utilized by CDP backup), we are aware of the problem and a fix will be available in the next version release (6.13). Please subscribe to our Technical RSS Feed ( http://www.ahsay.com/rss/technical-updates.rss ) for the latest info on new version release.

Hi
I am having this problem on a customer running version 6.19
Does anybody have a idea of what I can do?

Perhaps a reinstall of the acb client?

Hello,

If you are encountering Volume Shadow Copy issues then re-installing the AhsayACB client will not resolve this issue.

Try checking the Windows event logs on the client machine for any possible errors.

You may want to re-register VSS, using the %ACB_INSTALL%\bin\RegisterVSS.bat file first and reboot the machine.

I will try this at once.

This error only occurs on sheduled backup. Not manually started backup.
I wil post the result here

Hello,

If there are further problems it would be helpful if you can post the AhsayACB backup log on this thread. This will give u a better understanding of what is happening.

I have scheduled a teamviwer session With my customer today. And the backup should be working automatically in 1 hour.
so then I wil know if it worked.
I wil run the vsscheduler file With administrator priveligies.

Hello

"[Shadow Copy] The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."

This looks like a problem with Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy service on the AhsayACB machine. We suggest you go to [Services]>[Volume Shadow Copy} and check if is enabled.

Please also check the Window System event logs for any VSS related errors on this machine.

Hi :)

I have temviewer With the customer and verifyed that the VSS Service was NOT started Automatic.
I set it to turn on Automatic and restartet the Client. To verify again that the service was not offline. Now it was started Automatic.

I hope again this problem wil og away:)

What is the outcome, please? Is there a solution?
Expiriencing same behavior - some PST files not being backed up logging error messages. Only scheduled backups affected - succeeded to backup manually.

Hi Yev

i am still having the same problem.
When the computer starts the "VSS Service" is started.
But when auto backup is running, the service is stopped and backup failed with outlook file.
And the service goes in "stopped" status

It only works when doing manuell backup.
